The Family Law Department has many years of experience in handling the issues arising out of the breakdown of marriages and relationships. Although mindful of the alternative ways of resolving the issues, the ethos of the Department is to adopt a proactive approach to achieve a timely and cost effective outcome. We have acted in high value complex cases involving family businesses and the significance of monies from outside sources eg inheritances. We act for private clients, but also have a Legal Services Commission Franchise (ie Legal Aid) in Family Law and we can help with:

Divorce

At any one time we handle several hundred divorces. Most are issued out of the local county court, but we have often acted in matrimonial proceedings throughout England and Wales. Although divorces are rarely contested, we have the expertise to deal with defended divorces.

Children Act Matters

The firm has two child care panellists and regularly acts in public care proceedings and in private law issues involving children. We act for local authorities, guardians and family members.

Financial Issues

Although mediation is considered on a regular basis, the Department is encouraged to adopt a proactive approach and to ensure that the financial issues are resolved as quickly as possible. The firm has established connections with forensic accountants and other financial experts so that there is a team approach to enable us to obtain the right information to help the client achieve better results.

Although the members of the Family Law team will usually do their own advocacy at most stages of their cases, we have an excellent relationship with members of the Bar whom we feel provide a quick and effective service both with regard to the way they return paperwork and conduct the cases where they are instructed.
